Article title«Influence of the added mass on the dynamic characteristics of thin shells»
AuthorsS.V. Seregin, G.S. Leizerovich
AbstractThe influence of small lumped mass at the frequencies and forms of free flexural vibrations of a circular cylindrical shell is examined. The numerical results obtained by the finite element method in the MSC «Nastran» are compared with the known theoretical and experimental data. It was found that the main effect of reducing the frequency of "sheath-weight" depends not only on the value of the added mass, as it should be considered at the present time, but also on the geometric parameters and wave shell. This conclusion agrees qualitatively with the results of known experimental data and theoretical studies that take into account the interaction of bending vibration modes with radial. Traditional theoretical solution leads to acceptable results only for relatively long and thick skins. For relatively short and thin shells, discrepancy can be quite significant. Analysis of waveforms showing a small displacement of the center of curvature of nodes, i.e., the presence of radial variations that must be taken into account in the mathematical model of the theoretical research.
